Starting Right… Right Now

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:
and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Proverbs 9:10

I sometimes make the mistake of thinking that because in the past I’ve established a foundational truth in my life that I am actually living by or according to that truth… right now.

Take, for example, the fear of the Lord. I know that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. But is that beginning the very beginning of my whole body of knowledge or should it be the starting line of each pursuit of knowledge? It’s definitely a foundation that needs inspection.

One thought and I’ve got to go watch my coffee percolate: the fear of man is often responsible for undermining the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge… I can only conclude that the fear of man robs us of the opportunity to enjoy the knowledge and wisdom of God.
